The advantages of having a high illumination LED light source in our Slit Lamps.
Why our products have been LED optimised? Our technical team has re-designed the Takagi Slit Lamps by incorporating an LED optimisation, for two main reasons. Light-emitting diodes have a longer lifetime, with less energy consumption and are endlessly recyclable. The estimated life-span is 40,000 hours which is 15 years if used 8 hours a day, 7 days a week! Furthermore, the characteristic LED peak at 450nm highlights the anatomy of the eye, more efficiently than halogen bulbs. The Optometrist and Ophthalmologist can perform an accurate examination by observing the cornea, lens, vitreous humor as they contain more protein and are accentuated by the LED light.
The protein Keratin 12 is highly present in the corneal epithelium which can be observed with clarity under the high-luminance LED used in the Takagi Slit Lamps. Other protein contents that place emphasis on bringing focus on the anatomy of the lens is the Crystallin B2 and the Opticin, in the Vitreous humor.
Therefore, optimising the Takagi Slit Lamps to incorporate a high illumination LED light source is beneficial and important to identify possible eye diseases in the early stages, one step further compared to Halogen light bulbs. The second benefit is for the planet, as it cuts down the production of high volumes of Halogen lights, replaced by a few robust and long-lasting LEDs.
The 700GL is one of Takagi‘s finest examples of how quality and desirable design are combined seamlessly into a clinically trusted medical instrument.
